International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace

Our external world is a direct collective representation of our internal worlds. In order for global peace to exist, we must first clean up our internal environment, to find our own inner balance and peace. Depression, anxiety, and other mental/emotional imbalances are at an all time high, as is a general dissatisfaction with life.

Any sort of illness, whether it be physical or mental, is a messenger, a call from Spirit to bring our focus inwards, to take time to witness ourselves and the unfolding of our own inner process. We are often all to quick to project onto others how they should think, behave, etc. but, honestly, how often do we pause to check that we are in alignment in all aspects of our own lives; mind, body, and spirit?

September's Inspiration Sister: Maria Johanna

September's Inspiration Sister: Maria Johanna

I first met Maria Johanna last year when we were both volunteering at a personal development seminar in London.  I was instantly taken by not only her physical beauty, but also the joyful energy she brought with her every time she walked into a room.  Maria, then going by the name Mariette, and I both lived in Amsterdam where we met up a few times after that first meeting, sharing our stories of personal and spiritual development and supporting each other on these deeply transformative journey's.

Maria, author of the Dutch book, "Quarterlife Challenge," is a seeker of truth, looking to guide people back to the core of who they really are through her coaching practice.  Maria is following her heart on a divinely guided path that has led her to Bali to continue her spiritual transformation and is very excited to be The Holistic Explorer's very first Inspiration Sister!

Why I'm Doing A Social Media Detox

Why I'm Doing A Social Media Detox

I've decided that to kickstart my new way of interacting with the world through a 21-day social media, movie, radio, and news source detox!  Anyone who knows me that I’m all about detoxing my body, and now I’m going to detox my mind.  I’m going to use the extra time that had previously been spent scrolling through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to do the things that make me feel more connected and fulfilled.

Meditating, hiking, looking up at the stars, connecting with friends, dancing, making love, taking baths, reading books, cooking healthy meals, writing, journaling, creating…

These are the things that make my heart sing, that make me feel at peace, and grateful for my limited time here on Earth.
